Support Groups

Grief support groups are a safe space to share similar experiences and connect with others who have experienced a loss like yours. Dusk to Dawn Bereavement Services offers free support to adults through our grief groups, book groups, and educational events. Please see topics and dates below. Groups are free, but registration is required (8-12 participants per group). To register, please select the group below or call 765-267-1760.

Open Grief Support Group - Greencastle

This open grief support group is held on the first and third Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Peace Chapel at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church, 307 Simpson Street in Greencastle. The group is provided through a Putnam County Community Foundation grant. This is open to any adult who has experienced loss of any kind.

A Table for One
Wednesdays, September 6- 27, 11:30am-1pm Christ Lutheran Church

"A Table for One," the perfect program for those who have experienced loss and find themselves cooking for one. We understand that preparing meals for one can be challenging and daunting, especially if you're used to cooking for a larger family or group. Our program is specifically designed to make cooking enjoyable and stress-free. With "A Table for One," you'll have access to a range of delicious recipes and cooking tips that are perfect for one-person portions. Our goal is to help you create meals that not only nourish your body but also bring you joy and comfort.

Monica Nagele is a Registered Dietitian and is the Health and Human Science Educator for Purdue Extension Montgomery County. Monica has been providing education on food, family, money and health in Montgomery County for 10 years.

Thursdays August 24 through September 28

Join Linda Cherry and Mary Lou Dawald in this hands-on exploration of the healing gifts of gardening. In addition to exploring points of grief, the presenters will talk about the gardening experience as it pertains to feeding those experiencing food insecurity. Participants are asked to register for all six sessions.

Previous Groups

Mindfulness and Grief. Join Dusk to Dawn's staff counselor and certified yoga instructor Jai Miranda for this 8-week book and support group experience. Based on Heather Stang's groundbreaking book by the same title, participants discover how the body interprets and stores grief, and how moving the body can help the healing process. Books provided through a grant from the Putnam County Community Foundation for the group meeting in Greencastle. Miranda is a certified grief coach and 200 Hour Yoga Instructor. January 22-March 19, 2023 and March 1- April 19, 2023.

Drawing from the Well In this six week writing workshop with Gwynn Wills, participants explore the benefits of writing as a means of dealing with loss and trauma. During each of the six sessions, writing prompts will be given to draw clarity and momentum to the surface as writers journey on the road to healing. Group members will spend time writing, sharing and commenting on others’ writing as a way to provide support to one another and discover their own voice. February 2-March 9, 2023.
